Parasitic insects

Most of the parasites that affect plants are insects.

They feed on the plant tissues, causing varying degrees of damage depending on what kinds of mouthparts they have.

Insects with piercing-sucking mouthparts have a series of mouth stylets that allow them to pierce the surface of the plant tissues and suck up the sap. They produce a sticky sugar-rich substance that is left daubed on the plant.

Insects with a chewing mouth such as grasshoppers, beetles and fly, moth and butterfly larvae chew mainly the leaves and buds, completely stripping plants.

To effectively eliminate these insects, suitable products must be used and their application repeated as the generations evolve.
