The rose garden

The rose, known as the queen of all flowers, is a definite must for your garden: there are countless varieties and you will certainly find the one that best suits your needs.

You can find the classic long-stem roses that grow up to 2m tall, climbing roses, which can reach heights of even 4/5 m, bush roses, old roses and ground cover roses.

The best time for planting roses is from November to February/March (if you purchase potted roses you can plant them later on); choose a sunny, ventilated spot to facilitate growth and flowering.
Immerse the soil block for 1 or 2 hours before replanting; dig a rather deep and wide hole to allow the roots space, and add some soft peat.
Before placing the rose in the hole, cut the tips of the roots to encourage growth; get rid of any weak shoots and prune the main 3 or 4 buds.
Remember to water the plants when the soil is dry and get ready for flowering, which will probably begin in May.
