No more boring hedges!

Even plants follow fashions. Not everyone likes them though: so here are a few ideas for breaking conventions without breaking the bank.

Instead of the classic Buxus – weak due to the larva that often targets it – for low hedges you can use Microphylla Myrtle: it is compact and can grow up to 1.5 metres tall.

For a tall hedge, instead of Prunus Lauroceraso or Photinia, there is Eugenia Myrtifolia (Brush cherry) with green or variegated leaves.

If you really don’t want to forego the red colour, don’t forget Eugenia Etna Fire.

One final tip: remember to choose plants according to their growth characteristics and their needs, not just how they look.
