Citrus australasica - Finger Lime

Called “Finger Lime” in its place of origin for the resemblance of its fruit to fingers, the Citrus australasica is a citrus fruit that comes from Australia. In Italy it is known as “caviar lemon” as its fruit, once sliced open, looks like caviar. The plant can grow to a height of about 2 m, but has a very slow growth. However, it does begin to bear fruit from quite early on. The fruit is about 6/7 cm long and has juice vesicles inside.

For this reason, and for its flavour, the Finger Lime is highly sought-after by chefs to garnish food.
It doesn’t require any particular care compared to other citrus plants, so it is well suited to living in our territory.
